Account information: When you register, we collect your username, email address, and a hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.

Content you upload: Videos, thumbnails, comments, guestbook entries, profile bios, and avatars you provide.

Usage data: We log view counts, likes, follows, and other interactions. We store a hashed (SHA-256) version of your IP address for deduplicating view counts — we never store raw IP addresses.

Session data: We use server-side sessions stored in our database to keep you logged in. Sessions expire after one week of inactivity.

Theme preference: Stored in a browser cookie that does not contain personal information.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and operate the Site.
• To display your profile, videos, and activity to other users.
• To send you account-related communications (e.g. password reset).
• To enforce our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
• To display aggregate site statistics (total users, total views, etc.).

3. Information We Share

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with advertisers. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers: We use DigitalOcean Spaces to store videos and Render to host the application. These providers process data on our behalf.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users.
• DMCA compliance: We may share information with copyright holders as required to process valid takedown notices.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account by contacting us at [email protected]. Uploaded videos are deleted from storage when you delete them from your account.

5. Cookies

We use one session cookie to keep you logged in and one cookie to remember your theme preference. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

6. Children's Privacy

Pineapl is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures including hashed passwords (bcrypt), HTTPS, and private storage for raw video uploads. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

8. Your Rights

You may access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information by contacting us. You may also delete your own content at any time through your account.

9. Changes

We may update this policy periodically. We will update the "Last updated" date when we do. Continued use of the Site constitutes acceptance.
