DMCA & Copyright Policy

Last updated: January 1, 2025

Pineapl respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects our users to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 ("DMCA"), we will respond to valid notices of alleged copyright infringement.

Reporting Infringing Content

If you are a copyright owner (or authorized to act on behalf of one) and believe content on Pineapl infringes your copyright, you may submit a DMCA takedown notice. Your notice must include all of the following:

  • Your full legal name and contact information (address, phone number, and email address).
  • A description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed.
  • The URL(s) of the specific content on Pineapl you claim is infringing.
  • A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

Send DMCA notices to:

Email: [email protected]
Subject line: DMCA Takedown Notice

We aim to process valid notices within 5–10 business days.

What Happens After a Notice

Upon receiving a valid DMCA notice, we will:

  • Remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing content.
  • Notify the user who uploaded the content that it has been removed.
  • Provide the uploader with a copy of the notice (with your contact information included, as required by law).

Counter-Notifications

If you believe your content was removed in error (for example, you have authorization to use the material, or it qualifies as fair use), you may submit a counter-notification to [email protected]. A valid counter-notification must include:

  • Your full name, address, phone number, and email address.
  • Identification of the content that was removed and the URL where it appeared.
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the content was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  • A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in your district and will accept service of process from the person who submitted the original notice.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

If we receive a valid counter-notification, we may restore the content after 10–14 business days unless the original complainant files a court action.

Repeat Infringers

Pineapl will terminate the accounts of users who are found to be repeat infringers. A user who receives multiple valid DMCA notices will have their account permanently disabled.

Warning: Submitting a false DMCA notice is a serious matter. Under 17 U.S.C. §512(f), any person who knowingly makes a material misrepresentation in a DMCA notice or counter-notice may be liable for damages, including attorney's fees. Only submit a notice if you have a good faith belief that infringement has occurred.

Fair Use

We recognize that copyright law includes a fair use doctrine that may permit certain uses of copyrighted material without authorization. We cannot make legal determinations on your behalf — if you believe your use qualifies as fair use, we encourage you to submit a counter-notification and/or consult with a qualified attorney.
